All students in Australian schools can benefit greatly from learning through Indigenous ways of knowing, doing and being. It is mandatory for teachers to bring Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives across the curriculum. At the heart of Australian Indigenous cultures is Country. As we all live in Australia, Country has great significance for everybody.
The inequality between Indigenous and non-Indigenous Australians at every level is appalling, especially considering Indigenous Australians are the rightful custodians of this land. It is the responsibility of teachers in Australian schools to include Aboriginal perspectives and learning experiences across the curriculum, and provide equity to Indigenous students. Teachers need to:

- Buildrelationships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students/ families/ communities
- Have Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander guest speakers teach Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander education
- Teach Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives across the curriculum, starting from the local community
- Provide students with information positioning Indigenous Australians in the past, present and future, to counter sterotyping
- Build all students' connection and appreciation for Country
- Incorporate Indigenous students' culture into planning and programming in consultation with Aboriginal Education Officers.
