The HARMonious Beginners Themselves
Upon realising that there is little support for Beginning Teachers out there in the real world of teaching, we set about designing and creating a resource that would provide a level of support and guidance for Beginning Teachers in addressing and overcoming a range of topics and issues that they undoubedtly will face at some point in their teaching career. We are all qualified and practising teachers, so you can be sure that we ourselves have been in your shoes. We know what it is like to be "the new kid on the block".
Our name, HARMonious Beginnings, came about as a result of our first names, for the first letter of each of our names forms the acronym HARM. Our team includes;
Hayley Cheney - Hayley is a dedicated teacher and has many years experience working with children. She has completed a Certificate in Special Education and has a keen interest in this area. She can provide you with some practical advice for meeting the needs of learners with exceptional needs.
Alex Lees - Alex prides herself on being a quality teacher. She has strong ICT skills and has some practical ideas about how you can effectively integrate technology in to your classroom and pedagogy.
Richards Adams - Richard is a creative and passionate teacher. He has strong Creative Arts skills and has some great ideas about how you can effectively integrate Creative Arts in to other Key Learning Areas to engage students and further develop their knowledge, skills and understandings.
Marina Collier - Marina is an engaging and dynamic teacher. She has strong classroom management skills, and has some great tips and tricks for effectively managing the classroom and building positive relationships with students.
Whilst University prepares you to become a teacher, it does not prepare you for school environment as a whole, and for all of the additional roles and responsibilities of teachers today. That's where we come in. This website should provide you with a solid platform from which you can address many issues and challenges you may face. You can also e-mail us to seek further advice and guidance (see the 'Contact Us' page).
